Welcome to the world, Elemower


You know what's cool? Chemistry! you know what can make it even cooler? Cats! Specially with an appropriately summery theme. I made this game for the Dublin 1 Game A Month game jam with the theme "Chemistry Spread" I wish I had actually worked on it a full month (It was more like 4-5 days). I'd say it's a very literal interpretation of that theme... (The game "Literally Just Mowing" definitely provided some inspiration for this game, so thanks to its devs!!)


Anyway, no point in repeating what I wrote in the game's description, enjoy it! Feedback is greatly appreciated since I plan to keep working on it over time. These are the features I want to add:

  • More levels (Obviously)
  • Level creator: This would make my life so much easier, and give the game some welcome replay value.
  • Music and sound effects
  • "Worlds", as in Mario style worlds so the player doesn't have to progress through the game linearly 
  • A rewind feature: I really appreciated this about Baba Is You, and this feature would allow me to make more complex levels without them becoming frustrating. 
  • I wanna try out a real time variant, where the mower keeps going forward and the player has to let it go that direction or change it. It was actually the original intention but didn't do it because the gameplay could become too slow and didn't feel like the pressure would make it that much better, but still worth a shot.
  • Fake chemical compounds?? I feel I'll run out of fun formulae at some point so maybe I'll have stop using real ones.

But my first priority will be adding some tile modifiers:

  • Boulder tiles where that the player cannot go over. 
  • Rocky tiles where they will lose the chemical charge after going through it
  • Soapy tiles: That charge the player with soap, which removes chemical
  • Wet Tiles: that lose their chemical after a certain amount of moves
